This work represents conflicting thoughts that existed within my own mind until the tenth grade. Being in a school where art was never given any importance, and where thinking against the norm was unacceptable, I knew instinctively that I needed to protect my creativity (represented by the flower) from all the negativity around me. On the flip side, there were times where I was ready to give in and to pull out that flower, just to make my life at school and society in general easier. At the end of it all, the bandage prevailed.
